Cupid and Psyche

Cupid and Psyche is a forbidden love story, with an earthly being and a god falling in love. The push and pull of the forbiddenness of caring for someone other than your own is a dynamic I play with often. Animals are different by anatomy, but not far apart in nature. 
 
Based on William Bouguereau's "First Kiss", this piece is a commentary on the maltreatment of animals, specifically rabbits. This specific religious/mythological context offers the feeling of innocent love, along with a sadness that is taking that life by means of human comfort.
